Military Life:
Harold served in the United States Navy from July 01,1943 – January 23, 1946. He worked as a Radarman Third Class. Harold fondly remembered a story that he used to tell about the Captain of the ship who had a pet monkey. One day they were painting the side of the ship and the Captain opened a window just as a sailor went to paint across it and he covered the Captains face with paint. The monkey spent a couple of weeks picking paint chips out of the Captains beard.
